| Data Entry / Data input |
Data entry and data input are terms which are used interchangeably. They refer to the process of taking data in any form be it audio, handwritten on paper, typed, printed or digital and creating from that data computer based files, records or statistics.
Example 1: A private client has a personal database containing handwritten contact details of friends and colleagues. We can take on the task of entering these details onto a computerised document or a database.
Example 2: An opinion poll company collates data by speaking with representative members of the public. The data is collected on paper. All the paper records are sent to UKTyping, checked and then the data from it extracted and entered into spreadsheets for statistical analysis.
Example 3: A law firm charges clients on the basis of time spent on a client's cases by its lawyers. Lawyers complete a timesheet each day. The timesheets are sent to UKTyping and the information converted to digital computer based data files which can then be imported into the law firm's accounting and case management systems. |

| Double entry data verification |
| With complex data entry exercises it is often useful for the same data to be entered separately by two operatives. The data is then checked by each operative and then cross compared by computer to identify any discrepancies which will then highlight even the most minor and insignificant of errors. These processes are adopted to enhance quality without additional charge to clients. |

| |
| House Style |
| This is the preferred formatting and style adopted by a business in the creation of its standard correspondence and documentation. At UKTyping we spend considerable time learning the house style of each client so that documents we create for clients will be identical in appearance, format and layout to documents generated in-house. The aim of this is to make the process of outsourcing document creation seamless and user friendly. |

| Off-shoring |
| Off-shoring is very much an extension of outsourcing. Off-shoring brings about far greater economic savings by enabling work to be outsourced to another country usually a country in which overheads are lower and therefore the required services can be provided at a considerably cheaper rate. |

| |
| Outsourcing |
The process by which a business or an organisation arranges for some of it's responsibilities to be carried out by a third party. The aim of outsourcing is to improve efficiencies and often to arrange for those responsibilities to be carried out more economically. An individual or a business may for example decide to outsource some or all of its typing requirements to UKTyping instead of all of its typing being dealt with in-house. Outsourcing generally brings about some commonly accepted benefits. |
